Writer's Block: Do (political) opposites attract? [Jan. 7th, 2010|02:39 pm]

Are there any political issues, such as abortion or capital punishment, that are so fundamental to your core values that you could not respect and/or trust someone who held a contrary view?

Yes, absolutely. Any religious fundamentalist of any type would fall neatly into that category, as well as quite a few others.

If you knew Sang [Jan. 7th, 2010|12:21 pm]

I know some Dark City kids may not have heard that Sang passed away. Here's the wake info:

Thursday, January 7th - 8pm Keeho Kim Funeral Home Inc - www.koreanfuneral.com
1601 Palisade Ave, Fort Lee, NJ - (201) 313-0777.

Please pass it on/tag anyone that I've missed.

Sorry for the late post, I just found out.

You WHAT? [Jan. 7th, 2010|09:59 am]

Sometimes it really is a boost to have a coworker from Africa. We had a parent call today who needs to have their kid test...in Gabon. In January. Not possible...international tests can't have late registration to begin with, and we don't have any tests booked in Gabon. We do have a center there, but they're not testing this year.

I told my coworker what she said she needed. His eyes bugged and he started laughing.

While I'm positive that being educated will not cause your kids to be born with Autism, I would not be surprised to learn that the cause is a gene that is more prevalent in white people and becomes more likely to activate as you get older...much like Down's Syndrome (at least I know age is a factor there, race may not be, I don't remember).

I've been sick [Jan. 6th, 2010|08:50 am]

imaplatypus
I haven't been going out much or seeing many people because I've been sick since Xmas. I don't want to share whatever germ this is, and I will be DAMNED if I'm not better in time to rock out at Wicked Faire.

And I did wind up staying home for New Year's.

On the upside...I started a savings account to save up for the wedding. I got a little Xmas money, so I put that in. The plan is to add a couple hundred dollars or so every month. If I wind up between temp assigments I'll have to adjust that, but so far things look good. I've also been putting some real effort towards losing weight. 4 pounds in a month isn't a lot, but it's a nice steady rate and I think I can stick with it.

Memes: keeping me from killing entitled jerks [Dec. 31st, 2009|09:54 am]

If you respond to this, I will:

1. Tell you why I befriended you.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a color, a photo, etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.

Do you usually call your friends and/or family on New Year's Eve? Do you watch the countdown or ball drop on TV or choose to ignore it? What are your favorite New Year traditions?

I would dearly, DEARLY love to stay home and do not a goddamn thing on New Year's. Someday, someday that is exactly what I will do.

We're kicking around the idea of late September, 2012. A couple of my friends are pregnant, so that gives the podlings time to grow a bit. Late September means most faires will be closed. And, it will be a hair over 5 years since we started dating (August 2007).

So yeah. Maybe then.

...he asked where I wanted to go for our honeymoon. I hadn't even thought of that. I mean, a couple of weeks with nothing but him and no distractions? Who cares where? It'll be awesome even if it's like, Boise or something.
